Students from Oman have earned international recognition after securing gold medals and special awards at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2026) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The achievements reflect growing participation by Gulf students in global innovation platforms, particularly in fields linked to environmental solutions, artificial intelligence, and smart technologies.
The Young Omani inventors secure gold and special awards at ITEX 2026, Malaysia highlights a strong showing across multiple categories, including environmental science, information technology, communications, and multimedia.
Among the winners were students from Khawla bint Hakim School in Dhofar, who received a gold medal for their project “Roads Paved with Carbon Materials,” alongside a special award recognising innovation excellence.
Another student from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate was awarded a gold medal in information technology for a project focused on AI and Internet of Things applications, reflecting increasing interest in advanced digital systems among school-level innovators.
In Muscat Governorate, students also earned a gold medal for a project developing a “Smart Green Battery” using marine and electronic waste, a concept aligned with sustainability and recycling initiatives. The team also received additional international recognition, including awards from organisations in Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

Officials said the participating students were graduates of a national scientific innovation programme aimed at strengthening skills in robotics, artificial intelligence, and applied research, reflecting broader regional investment in knowledge-based education.
The results underscore Oman’s continued focus on developing young talent capable of competing in international innovation forums and contributing to future technology-driven development.
