Oman Unveils Ambitious Eco-Camping Haven in Quriyat’s Huwiyyat Najm

Oman is taking a major step forward in sustainable tourism in Oman with a new project in Huwiyyat Najm, Quriyat. The Muscat Governorate, represented by Muscat Municipality, awarded the tender to develop the largest integrated camping area in the country.

Spanning half a million square meters, the site will combine nature, recreation, and eco-friendly design. It aims to promote sustainable tourism in Oman by supporting visitors and protecting the local environment.

The camping area will feature walking trails, outdoor activities, and large green spaces that can host 144 visitors daily. It will also provide public facilities, camping reception centers, and retail outlets for a full visitor experience.

Moreover, the project focuses on renewable energy as well as eco-conscious infrastructure. Officials expect it to become a model for environmentally responsible tourism in the region.

The development offers added benefits beyond leisure. It will preserve Oman’s natural and cultural heritage, promote a circular economy, and reduce climate impact. Job creation for locals is another key advantage, supporting the community and the national economy.

Investors will find opportunities in managing camping facilities, running food trucks, hosting events, and showcasing local family-made products. These elements aim to make Huwiyyat Najm a vibrant hub for tourism and culture.

Zoning, moorings, and sustainable design will protect the island’s natural landscapes. The project will allow visitors to enjoy the environment without harming the ecosystem.

By combining conservation with tourism, Oman reinforces its position as a regional leader in green development and eco-friendly initiatives. The project reflects the country’s long-term vision to diversify the economy while encouraging responsible travel and sustainable practices.

As the project progresses, sustainable tourism in Oman remains a key national priority. The initiative encourages visitors as well as citizens alike to explore the country responsibly, enjoy its natural beauty, and preserve its valuable resources.
