Oman Sultan Inaugurates Energy Operations Centre

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has visited Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in the capital, Muscat, where he reviewed key developments and strategic projects in the country’s energy sector.

The visit included a briefing on PDO’s progress in oil and gas operations, along with a presentation outlining the company’s development, technological upgrades, and future plans aimed at improving efficiency and performance.

During the visit, the Sultan inaugurated the Integrated Operations Centre, named “Bayt Al Haitham,” which is designed as a central command hub for monitoring and managing energy operations across Oman. The facility is intended to enhance real-time oversight of oil and gas activities through a unified digital system.

Officials described the centre as a key national project supporting the modernisation of the energy sector and improving operational coordination. It is also expected to contribute to broader economic stability by increasing efficiency in resource management.

The development of Bayt Al Haitham reflects Oman’s ongoing efforts to integrate digital technologies into its energy infrastructure, a sector that remains central to the country’s economy.

The Sultan also toured an exhibition showcasing PDO’s historical milestones, production growth, sustainability initiatives, and digital transformation plans, alongside efforts to develop national expertise within the sector.

At the conclusion of the visit, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik signed the visitors’ book and met with employees of the company, marking the occasion with an official group photograph.

Senior officials accompanying the Sultan included ministers and key representatives from the economic and energy sectors, highlighting the strategic importance of the visit within Oman’s broader development agenda.
