Oman Startup Programme Boosts Tourism Innovation

Seven Omani startups have presented a series of innovative projects aimed at enhancing the tourism experience in the Sultanate, as part of a national business accelerator programme led by Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group).

The initiative, known as the “Hikayat Balad” Business Accelerator, was designed to turn early-stage ideas into scalable ventures that can contribute to the growth of Oman’s tourism sector.

The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism and Chairman of Omran Group’s Board.

According to organisers, the programme received 29 applications from Omani entrepreneurs, which were later narrowed down to seven startups spanning travel technology, tourism platforms, agritech, and property technology.

Over several months, participants underwent training, mentorship, and business development sessions aimed at strengthening their projects and preparing them for investment opportunities.

The accelerator, delivered in partnership with Al Jabr MENA, also built on outcomes from a previous hackathon held in 2024, extending support for emerging entrepreneurs in the sector.

Two of the participating startups secured seed funding, highlighting growing investor interest in tourism-focused innovation in Oman.
