Oman Launches Bold National Strategy to Drive Data Transformation by 2030

Oman has taken a major step toward digital progress with the launch of its National Statistics and Information Strategy. The new plan aims to strengthen data systems and improve evidence-based decision-making across all government sectors.

During a workshop in Muscat, more than 100 officials gathered to discuss the goals and performance indicators of the National Statistics and Information Strategy. The event highlighted the importance of coordination among government units to create a unified and reliable data system.

Moreover, the workshop aligned the new strategy with Oman Vision 2040. This vision focuses on transparency, innovation, and sustainable development. The National Statistics and Information Strategy directly supports these objectives by ensuring that national decisions rely on accurate, up-to-date information.

Officials explained that the new strategy promotes a data-driven culture within government institutions. They added that accurate data can improve planning and boost productivity in every department. In addition, the framework encourages cooperation among ministries to optimize technology use and simplify data management.

The main goals include improving the accuracy of official statistics and expanding the use of digital tools in data collection. It also aims to develop human capabilities through training and strengthen ties between national and international organizations.

During the discussions, participants examined successful global models for data management. They reviewed how other countries use modern systems to track progress and shape effective policies. These insights will guide Oman in implementing its strategy efficiently and responsibly.

Furthermore, experts believe this initiative will create a strong foundation for economic growth. It will also help the government adopt a smarter, data-based approach to public administration. With this, Oman can better respond to challenges and achieve its long-term goals.

By committing to the National Statistics and Information Strategy, Oman is paving the way for a modern, knowledge-driven society. The new framework ensures that every key decision is supported by facts, accuracy, and innovation — values that will define Oman’s next stage of development.
