Oman Iran Agree On Hormuz Maritime Security

Oman and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and ensuring maritime security in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, during a phone call between their foreign ministers.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed ways to enhance cooperation across multiple fields, grounded in principles of good neighbourliness and long-standing cultural and historical ties.

The two sides also reviewed recent understandings between the United States and Iran, and stressed the importance of upholding international law to guarantee the safe and uninterrupted passage of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Both ministers expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would help create conditions conducive to dialogue and political solutions, aimed at reinforcing security and stability across the wider region.

The call comes amid continued regional sensitivity over maritime routes in the Gulf, which remain critical to global energy and trade flows.
