Muscat – The Oman Human Rights Commission took part as an observer in the 55th session of the Arab Permanent Human Rights Committee, held in Kuwait. The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi, Chairman of the Commission.

The session focused on key human rights issues in the Arab world, including violations in the occupied Palestinian territories and their humanitarian consequences. Discussions also covered ways to enhance cooperation among member states in implementing recommendations from the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee and addressing emerging challenges, particularly those related to technology and artificial intelligence.

A major point of discussion was the protection of vulnerable groups, with emphasis on safeguarding the rights of families and children. The meeting concluded with recommendations highlighting the importance of unified Arab efforts to develop human rights policies, strengthen regional solidarity, and establish mechanisms for implementing international agreements.
