Oman has presented its long-term vision for judicial reform and digital transformation during a regional conference of Arab judicial leaders held in Milan, highlighting efforts to modernise the country’s legal system in line with Oman Vision 2040.
Representing the Sultanate, the Supreme Judiciary Council took part in panel discussions organised by the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research under the theme “Towards Enhancing Judicial Communication.”
The event brought together heads of supreme courts and judicial councils from across the Arab world to exchange expertise and discuss strategies for strengthening cooperation between judicial institutions.
During the discussions, Oman’s delegation outlined the Supreme Judiciary Council’s 2024–2040 strategic plan, which aims to improve the efficiency of judicial services, strengthen the rule of law and accelerate digital transformation across the justice sector.
The presentation highlighted several initiatives, including the expansion of electronic and virtual court hearings, greater digital integration with government entities, enhanced case management systems and the use of emerging technologies to improve judicial services.
Officials also outlined plans to reduce litigation periods, strengthen enforcement procedures, expand alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and improve services for court users, including people with disabilities.
The conference also examined regional experiences in judicial reform, proposals to enhance cooperation among Arab judicial institutions and the development of a common framework for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems.
The discussions concluded with recommendations aimed at strengthening judicial communication, promoting digital justice and supporting long-term institutional development across the region.
