The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in Oman is set to strengthen its global presence in 2025 with a comprehensive promotional strategy, including participation in major international tourism exhibitions and the organization of mobile workshops in key foreign markets.
As part of its efforts, Oman will be represented at 15 prominent international tourism exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Notable events include FITUR in Spain, ITB Berlin in Germany, MITT in Russia, ATM in the UAE, ITB Asia in Singapore, and WTM in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the ministry will take part in specialized exhibitions such as IMEX in Germany, which focuses on incentive and conference tourism, and the Sea Trade exhibition in the United States, which specializes in marine tourism.
The primary objective of this initiative is to promote Oman as a premier tourist destination by showcasing its cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and diverse tourism offerings. The initiative also aims to highlight travel packages and special promotions provided by local tourism companies.
Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, emphasized the importance of Oman’s participation in these global events, describing them as vital platforms for enhancing the country’s presence in international markets. He noted that following the ministry’s successful engagement at the International Tourism Exhibition in Madrid, ITB Berlin will be its next major destination.
Al Ghassani further highlighted that these exhibitions serve as opportunities to present the latest developments in Oman’s tourism sector and establish connections with major international tourism stakeholders. Such interactions are expected to foster collaboration and investment opportunities.
Beyond exhibitions, Oman’s presence in these global events is also designed to attract a larger number of tourists by promoting its diverse tourism experiences. The ministry is committed to developing relationships with international tourism organizations and actively participating in industry conferences and seminars to stay updated on global trends.
Additionally, these exhibitions provide a platform for Omani businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to showcase their products and services within the country’s dedicated pavilion. This initiative is expected to boost the local tourism industry and support businesses looking to expand their international reach.
The ministry is also planning to introduce new promotional programs in collaboration with strategic partners to enhance Oman’s marketing efforts and attract foreign investment in the tourism sector.
In parallel with its participation in exhibitions, the ministry will conduct a series of mobile promotional workshops targeting key markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, East Asia, and Europe. These workshops are aimed at strengthening relationships with both local and international tourism partners, exploring opportunities for collaboration, and forging strategic alliances.
The workshops will feature presentations showcasing Oman’s unique tourism assets and will facilitate business meetings between Omani tourism firms and leading international travel companies. The goal is to establish stronger business ties and secure contracts that will help drive tourism growth.
These initiatives align with Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes economic diversification and recognizes tourism as a vital sector in bolstering the national economy. Through its global promotional strategy, Oman aims to elevate its position as a leading travel destination while fostering sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
