Oman Chamber Focuses on Strengthening National Industries

The Industry Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held its first meeting of 2025 on Sunday. During this important gathering, members discussed ways to enhance national industries and increase the competitiveness of Omani products both locally and internationally. The committee also addressed the challenges facing the industrial sector.

Developing National Industries

One key topic of discussion was the development of national industries. Committee members stressed the need for more support to boost local manufacturing capabilities. By increasing the competitiveness of Omani products, the committee hopes to see further growth in domestic and global markets. They believe that this will strengthen Oman’s position as a competitive industrial hub in the region.

Reviewing Laws and Regulations

The committee also focused on reviewing existing laws and regulations. They emphasized that improving the industrial business environment is crucial for encouraging more investment and fostering sustainable growth. Committee members agreed that updating and refining the regulatory framework will help support Omani industries in meeting both local and international demands.

Incentives for Omani Factories

Additionally, the committee discussed the need to offer more incentives for Omani factories. These incentives should be designed to encourage expansion and increased production capacity. By offering targeted incentives, the committee believes that Omani manufacturers will be better equipped to overcome market challenges and seize new opportunities.

Support for National Products

Taufiq Abdul Hussein Al Lawati, Chairman of the Industry Committee, reiterated the importance of supporting and protecting national products. He emphasized that a strong and competitive Omani product is key to boosting the economy. Al Lawati also highlighted some of the challenges Omani manufacturers face, both in local markets and on the international stage.

Looking Ahead

In conclusion, the Industry Committee at OCCI is committed to strengthening national industries. By fostering a favorable environment and offering incentives, the committee hopes to increase the competitiveness of Omani products and boost the local industrial sector’s global standing. Moving forward, addressing the challenges faced by manufacturers will remain a top priority for the committee.
