Oman Air achieved its busiest khareef season in 2025, flying over 200,000 guests to Salalah. Oman Air managed this record by increasing flight frequency and capacity, supporting tourism growth in the region. The achievement represents a 15 percent rise compared to the same period in 2024.
The airline operated up to 14 flights daily on the Muscat-Salalah route. It deployed widebody aircraft on key services, raising seat capacity by up to 75 percent on select flights. Oman Air also maintained fixed national fares to encourage domestic travel. Over 70 percent of passengers during the khareef season took advantage of the OMR 54 return fare. The OMR 64 fare continues year-round, promoting accessibility beyond peak travel periods.
Ahmed Al Mahrouqy, Oman Air’s Vice President of Global Sales, said the airline remains committed to supporting national tourism. He emphasized the company’s role in connecting people, promoting Salalah, and collaborating with local communities during khareef. The airline also sponsored the Khareef Dhofar festival in partnership with Dhofar Municipality, highlighting Oman Air’s investment in cultural and natural heritage promotion.
Tourism experts note that Oman Air’s expansion enhances the region’s profile as a leading destination. Increased connectivity between Muscat and Salalah encourages both domestic and international visitors. The airline’s commitment to affordable fares also contributes to stronger passenger numbers.
The khareef season is a key period for Dhofar tourism, drawing visitors for the region’s monsoon landscapes and cultural events. Oman Air’s expanded schedule and increased aircraft capacity helped meet the surge in demand efficiently. Airlines and travel analysts emphasize that consistent service quality remains vital for sustaining tourism growth.
Looking ahead, Oman Air plans to continue monitoring passenger trends to adjust services effectively. The company may further increase flight frequency or deploy larger aircraft in response to rising demand. Additionally, ongoing sponsorships and promotional initiatives aim to enhance cultural engagement and visitor experiences.
Oman Air’s 2025 khareef record demonstrates its strategic role in connecting regions, supporting tourism, and offering accessible travel. By strengthening operations and community partnerships, Oman Air reinforces its position as a key driver of regional economic and tourism development.
