NMDC Infra Expands Globally with Strategic Acquisition in Spain

NMDC Group strengthened its global presence by announcing the NMDC Infra acquisition of 51 percent of Spain’s Lantania Aguas. This deal creates a major international player in the water sector and combines technical expertise with operational experience. It also addresses global water challenges while expanding NMDC’s footprint beyond the UAE.

NMDC Infra now holds a controlling share in Lantania Aguas, while the Spanish group keeps the remaining 49 percent. The rebranded company, Lantania NMDC Water, will operate with its current management team, maintaining continuity in projects. This ensures both companies leverage their strengths and prepare for global expansion efficiently.

Lantania NMDC Water includes over 300 professionals and manages a project backlog exceeding $544 million across several countries. By combining NMDC’s technical skills with Lantania’s engineering expertise, the company leads in desalination, water treatment, and wastewater reuse. As water scarcity challenges communities worldwide, this partnership provides sustainable and effective solutions.

The joint management structure strengthens technological, financial, and operational capacity. It also improves the company’s ability to handle large projects in the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Consequently, the partnership positions the company to respond efficiently to global water demands.

The acquisition also marks NMDC Group’s first entry into the European market. UAE-grown capabilities complement Lantania’s experience, creating a stronger global operator. Analysts say the combined expertise can establish international benchmarks in sustainable water infrastructure. The NMDC Infra acquisition shows the company’s commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

In conclusion, the partnership positions Lantania NMDC Water for long-term growth. By combining complementary skills and financial resources, the company can tackle global water challenges. The NMDC Infra acquisition represents a milestone for NMDC Group, reflecting its dedication to expanding its portfolio and creating sustainable solutions worldwide.
