Kuwaiti Leaders Embrace Interfaith Dialogue, Reinforcing a National Tradition of Tolerance

Senior Kuwaiti officials warmly received a delegation of church leaders this week. This high-level meeting highlighted the nation’s enduring tradition of tolerance. Furthermore, the gathering celebrated the country’s long-standing interfaith harmony.

Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah hosted the event. Chief of His Highness the Crown Prince’s Diwan Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also attended. Significantly, they met at the prestigious Bayan Palace.

The church delegation included Rev. Emmanuel Gharib. He serves as Pastor and President of the National Evangelical Church in Kuwait. Moreover, representatives from many other congregations joined him. These included leaders from the Catholic Church and the Coptic Orthodox Church. Additionally, the Greek Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church sent representatives. The Armenian Orthodox Church and St Paul’s Church also attended.

The religious leaders extended their congratulations. Specifically, they congratulated the two Sheikhs on their recent appointments. This gesture reinforced the positive relationship between the government and religious communities.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah delivered a powerful message. He affirmed Kuwait’s foundational principles. Consequently, he stated that the country has always championed religious tolerance. He also emphasized freedom of belief for everyone.
