Kuwait Says Iranian Attacks Hit Border Posts and Offshore Oil Platform

Kuwait said three northern land border posts and an offshore drilling platform were targeted in Iranian attacks on Sunday, causing material damage and injuring one worker.

The country’s Defense Ministry said the offshore platform, operated by the Kuwait Oil Company, was hit by a hostile drone. The injured worker was taken for medical treatment, while authorities confirmed that the affected sites were being assessed.

Kuwait’s armed forces said they intercepted hostile aerial targets and remain on high alert to protect the country’s security and territorial integrity. Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Saud Al-Atwan said relevant authorities responded immediately and coordinated efforts with government agencies following the attacks.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the strikes, describing them as a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law. It warned that continued attacks could increase instability in the region and threaten efforts to reduce tensions through diplomatic channels.

Kuwait also condemned attacks targeting Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Jordan, expressing solidarity with the affected countries and supporting their right to take measures to protect their security.

The ministry called on Iran to stop such actions, respect the sovereignty of other states, and resolve disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.

Separately, Kuwait’s General Staff announced that its explosive ordnance disposal unit carried out controlled operations in Subhan to remove shrapnel and unexploded materials. The military said any explosions heard during the operation were related to the disposal process.
