Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said security forces have dismantled a burglary gang and arrested 11 individuals in separate drug-related cases, as authorities continue wider crackdowns on crime and narcotics across the country.
In a statement, the ministry said investigators first tracked a group accused of a series of thefts targeting homes and commercial outlets. The case began after a masked suspect broke into a cooperative society branch in the Al-Sulaibiya area, smashing a glass door and stealing cash.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from the site, which led to the identification and arrest of those involved. According to the ministry, the suspects later confessed and led investigators to evidence linked to the crime, including a face covering that was recovered from a rooftop in the same area.
Authorities said the same group was linked to at least five additional burglary cases carried out using a similar method. Legal procedures are now underway ahead of referral to the relevant judicial authorities.
In a separate operation, security forces detained 11 people in unrelated drug-related cases involving possession and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The Interior Ministry said those arrested included Kuwaiti citizens as well as Arab, Asian and African nationals, along with stateless residents. A range of illegal substances was seized, including methamphetamine, hashish, heroin, cocaine, Captagon pills and prescription drugs often misused for non-medical purposes.
Officials also reported the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, cash believed to be linked to drug sales, and equipment used in drug distribution, including weighing scales.
The ministry said additional items recovered included a firearm, dozens of live rounds and a weapon magazine, underlining what it described as the wider criminal risks associated with drug trafficking networks.
Authorities stressed that enforcement campaigns against drugs and organised crime would continue, as part of efforts to protect public safety and curb the spread of narcotics in society.
The announcement reflects ongoing security operations in Kuwait, where law enforcement agencies regularly report coordinated actions against both drug-related offences and property crimes.
