Kerala Chief Minister Engages Kuwaiti Leaders and Diaspora to Boost Investments

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan began his visit to Kuwait by emphasizing strengthening India-Kuwait business ties. He highlighted opportunities for mutual growth.

On November 6, Vijayan met Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace. The meeting included the Finance Minister and Chairman of Kuwait Investment Authority, the Chairman of BNK Holding, and the Chairman of LuLu Group International. Indian Embassy Charge d’Affaires Sanjay K Muluka also attended.

During discussions, both sides highlighted long-standing cooperation between India and Kuwait. They also praised the contributions of the Indian, especially Malayali, community.

Vijayan briefed Kuwaiti officials on Kerala’s investor-friendly climate. He outlined potential development projects across multiple sectors. In response, Kuwaiti leaders expressed interest in exploring collaborative ventures.

Later, Vijayan met Sheikh Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, a board member of Kuwait Investment Authority. Sheikh Meshal confirmed that a high-level Kuwaiti delegation would visit Kerala soon. This initiative supports strengthening India-Kuwait business ties.

Vijayan’s visit is part of a broader GCC outreach program. He began in Bahrain on October 15, then visited Oman and Qatar. In Kuwait, embassy officials and diaspora representatives welcomed him at the airport. These events aim to engage the diaspora and promote investment opportunities.

On November 7, Vijayan will address a public gathering at Al-Arabi Indoor Stadium in Mansouriya. However, thousands of Malayali expatriates are expected. Hundreds of Indian associations and business leaders have confirmed support. This marks a milestone in Kerala’s engagement with its overseas community.

After Kuwait, Vijayan will travel to the UAE on November 9. He will meet officials and explore new investment opportunities. The visit continues strengthening India-Kuwait business ties, reflecting Kerala’s commitment to fostering international economic partnerships.

Vijayan’s mission highlights Kerala’s focus on global engagement. It also shows how diaspora and business collaboration can enhance regional development and long-term growth.
