Iraqi Ministry of Trade Extends Ration Card Update Deadline

The Iraqi Ministry of Trade extended the ration card update deadline until September 1. This change gives citizens more time to complete their procedures. Officials emphasize that the extension allows everyone to secure essential supplies.

More than 20 million citizens already completed, the ministry reported. Nearly 900,000 citizens remain excluded from the system. Authorities urge these individuals to update their information immediately to avoid losing benefits.

The ministry provides rice for the ration card from four main sources. It maintains a six-month supply to prevent shortages. Citizens should visit local centers to verify their data and collect their shares on time.

Earlier, the ministry extended the ration card update deadline in ten governorates—Maysan, Diwaniyah, Anbar, Diyala, Wasit, Salah al-Din, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Babil, and Muthanna—until August 1. Now, the extension applies nationwide, giving all citizens more time to comply.

Officials warn that any card not updated by September 1 will lose its ration privileges. Citizens must act quickly to continue receiving rice, sugar, and other subsidized goods.

The ministry informs the public through social media campaigns, local centers, and community announcements. These efforts ensure all eligible citizens complete the ration card update process.

Experts stress that keeping ration card data current helps prevent distribution gaps. It also guarantees that vulnerable families continue receiving essential resources without disruption.

In conclusion, Iraq’s Ministry of Trade encourages all citizens to finish the ration card update before September 1. The extension shows the government’s commitment to inclusion, food security, and smooth distribution of essential commodities.
