Iraq Strengthens Ties with Turkish Enterprises to Boost Economic Growth

Iraq has reaffirmed its intention to deepen partnerships with Turkish businesses as part of its broader economic strategy. During a meeting in Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of Turkish enterprises in supporting Iraq’s development goals.

The meeting brought together businessmen and representatives from 17 Turkish companies operating across various industries. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration and creating new opportunities for investment. Officials highlighted that strong relations between Iraq and Turkey continue to serve as a foundation for economic growth.

Al-Sudani explained that Iraq’s government views investments and business partnerships as key tools for strengthening bilateral ties. He pointed out that Turkish enterprises can play a major role in building stronger trade and industrial connections between the two countries.

He also underlined that Iraq now enjoys greater stability, which provides fertile ground for attracting investors. According to him, the government is working to approve policies that create a supportive environment for long-term projects. This includes measures to reduce barriers, streamline procedures, and ensure fair opportunities for foreign partners.

The prime minister praised the volume of economic exchange between Iraq and Turkey, which currently exceeds 20 billion USD. He stressed the need to push these figures even higher through joint initiatives and coordinated efforts. By increasing cooperation, both sides can benefit from stronger trade flows and more resilient supply chains.

In addition, Al-Sudani highlighted the strategic Development Road project. This initiative aims to connect Iraq with Turkey and other regional countries, positioning Iraq as a vital link in global trade routes. He noted that Turkish enterprises will have a crucial role in driving this project forward.

Observers believe the Development Road will strengthen transportation networks, boost industrial growth, and create new economic opportunities. Furthermore, it will improve Iraq’s position as a hub for logistics and commerce in the Middle East.

Ultimately, Iraq’s government is sending a clear message of openness to international cooperation. By encouraging partnerships with Turkish enterprises, Baghdad is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and regional integration.
