Iraq Pushes Forward With “Stronger Global Ties” as Government Talks Intensify

Iraq moves through another tense political moment, and the leadership now stresses the need for stronger global ties, a phrase that guides the country’s new direction. The caretaker prime minister shares this message as political negotiations grow more complex across Baghdad.

The caretaker prime minister addressed the public through X and highlighted Iraq’s urgent need for deeper cooperation with regional and international partners. He said Iraq gains stability through communication and collaboration. Moreover, he explained that Iraq can improve security and development only when it builds stronger global ties with active partners.

Political tension continues after the November 11 parliamentary elections. The Coordination Framework secured the largest bloc and now holds the task of nominating the next prime minister. However, the internal divisions inside the coalition create uncertainty and increase pressure on all parties.

The Reconstruction and Development Coalition won 46 seats, and this gives it a strong position in the negotiations. Yet the coalition still faces major challenges because other blocs push for different outcomes. Furthermore, disagreements inside the Coordination Framework slow progress and complicate the search for a unified decision.

The State of Law Coalition gained 29 seats. Its members support their leader for another term, and this move adds another layer to the power struggle. Because of this, talks grow even more sensitive, and political meetings continue late into the night.

However, the political picture also depends on Sunni and Kurdish forces. Sunni blocs now control 77 seats and recently created a National Political Council. This council aims to unify their position in the talks. Kurdish parties also hold 56 seats and prepare to play a decisive role. Their influence increases as negotiations intensify, and both blocs understand the weight of their decisions.

Iraq follows an unwritten power-sharing structure that assigns the premiership to a Shia, the speakership to a Sunni, and the presidency to a Kurd. Therefore, every step in the talks must respect this system, and every party seeks leverage during the process.

The caretaker prime minister continues to stress cooperation, partnership, and stability. He believes Iraq strengthens its economy and diplomacy when it builds stronger global ties with trusted partners. Additionally, he insists that Iraq must reduce political tension to focus on development, employment, and security.

As negotiations move forward, Iraq stands at a defining moment. The leadership wants unity, and the political blocs seek influence. Yet all sides know that the country grows stronger when it forms stronger global ties and keeps its attention on long-term national goals.
