Iraq has pledged not to allow its territory or airspace to be used for attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, GCC countries, or other states in the region.
The commitment was made during talks in Riyadh between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Sunday.
The two officials discussed Saudi-Iraqi relations, ways to strengthen cooperation, and regional developments of mutual concern.
Both sides emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty, maintaining good neighborly relations, and avoiding any actions that could threaten the security and stability of other countries.
Iraq reaffirmed that its land and airspace will not serve as a launch point for attacks against Saudi Arabia or other regional partners.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of supporting Iraq’s security and stability, strengthening state institutions, and continuing coordination between the two countries.
