Iraq Development Fund to Build 600 More Schools

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani has confirmed the continuation of Iraq’s school construction initiative. The project, funded through the Iraq Development Fund, now moves forward with a plan to build 600 new schools across the country.

During a televised event on Saturday, Al Sudani celebrated the successful completion of 1,000 modern schools. These schools were built through the Iraq-China agreement and are now distributed across multiple provinces. He emphasized that this milestone marks a major achievement in Iraq’s educational development.

“The Iraq Development Fund to Build 600 More Schools” remains a key priority, the Prime Minister stressed. This ongoing project aims to reduce school overcrowding and eliminate triple-shift schedules. He noted that the new schools feature updated designs tailored to meet all educational needs. Each building creates a more suitable and motivating environment for students.

Al Sudani praised the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the National Projects Department. He also thanked the Ministry of Education for finalizing the handover process. According to him, this national effort reflects the hard work of three consecutive governments. Remarkably, the project continued without delays over the past two years.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of education in achieving sustainable development. He explained that improved infrastructure will uplift Iraq’s educational system. Moreover, it will play a critical role in supporting Iraq’s future growth.

He added that the government has focused on reviving stalled projects. One of the key successes has been completing the “Thousand Schools Project.” Al Sudani commended the partnership between the private sector and state institutions, which ensured the project’s success.

Looking ahead, the next phase will rely on available land in the provinces. With good coordination, the government plans to meet all school infrastructure needs soon. Once again, the Prime Minister reiterated the goal: The Iraq Development Fund to Build 600 More Schools.

The 1,000 schools completed so far are spread across Iraq. Baghdad received 144, Basra got 86, and Dhi Qar gained 106. Other provinces also saw substantial additions. This distribution reflects a balanced national approach to educational reform.

Clearly, The Iraq Development Fund to Build 600 More Schools remains a cornerstone of Iraq’s transformation
