Iraq Customs Launches 24/7 Command Center to Modernize Trade Oversight

Iraq Customs modernization takes a major leap as the country inaugurates a state-of-the-art 24/7 command center to transform border control. The initiative strengthens trade oversight, streamlines operations, and improves transparency across all Iraqi entry points.

Baghdad witnessed the official launch of the new operations room late Tuesday evening. The facility serves as a centralized hub to monitor customs activities across land, sea, and air borders. With Iraq Customs modernization at its core, authorities aim to enhance efficiency while preventing illegal trade.

Director General of Customs, Thamer Qasim, explained that the command center acts as the nerve center for Iraq’s trade flows. He emphasized that real-time monitoring now allows officials to detect irregularities instantly and act quickly. This improvement reduces bureaucratic delays and accelerates customs clearance, which benefits traders and the economy.

The center incorporates instantaneous auditing capabilities, enabling staff to verify customs procedures without slowing down cargo movement. It also integrates advanced data analytics, continuously gathering trade information to support informed decision-making. These tools highlight Iraq Customs modernization as a critical step toward improving accountability and operational efficiency.

The command center enhances anti-smuggling operations. Smart surveillance technologies and integrated monitoring now strengthen efforts against illegal trade and tax evasion. By applying these modern solutions, Iraq can safeguard revenue and protect legitimate businesses from unfair competition.

In addition, Iraq Customs modernization prioritizes transparency. Digital systems ensure that trade processes comply with international standards while maintaining institutional discipline. Stakeholders can track procedures, enhancing confidence among local and international investors.

Qasim highlighted that the new facility demonstrates Iraq’s commitment to modernizing trade infrastructure while creating a more secure and efficient environment for economic growth. Officials also expect that this center will reduce corruption risks and reinforce the country’s competitiveness in global markets.

Iraq Customs modernization through the 24/7 command center represents a landmark advancement in border management. By combining real-time auditing, data analytics, and anti-smuggling tools, Iraq strengthens both trade security and economic efficiency.
