Finance Committee Approves Amendment to Commercial Companies Law Article 264

The House of Representatives’ Finance and Economic Affairs Committee held its 33rd meeting. MP Ahmed Sabah Al-Saloum chaired the meeting. All committee members attended.

The committee began by reviewing new referrals. One proposal suggested regulatory standards for obtaining a commercial register for technical professions in private home maintenance. This aims to ensure safety and quality of service for residents. The committee decided to address the relevant authorities on this proposal.

Next, the committee discussed Draft Law No. (21) of 2001, which amends provisions of the Commercial Companies Law (Decree-Law No. 21 of 2001). After review, the committee rejected the draft law.

The committee then discussed another draft law, Draft Law No. (21) of 2001. This law amends Article (264) of the Commercial Companies Law. After deliberation, the committee approved the draft law.

Furthermore, in the remedial clause, the committee reviewed Draft Law No. (21) of 2001. This law amends the table specifying the number of votes each chamber member has in voting. The committee decided to meet with the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society regarding this.

However, under the item requesting the committee’s opinion, the committee reviewed five requests. One request involved the Services Committee’s draft law on amending Article (78) of the Social Insurance Law. Another request dealt with fees imposed on employers for issuing and renewing work permits and residence permits for family members of female workers and foreign employers.

The committee also reviewed a proposed law on amending certain provisions of Law No. (18) of 2006 regarding social security. Additionally, the committee looked at a proposal to raise the maximum benefit from housing services to 2,500 dinars. The committee decided to provide financial and economic opinions to the relevant committees.

Overall, committee members include MP Ahmed Sabah Al-Saloum (Chair), MP Mohammed Yousef Al-Ma’ari (Vice-Chair), MP Zainab Abdul-Amir Khalil, MP Iman Hassan Shuwaiter, MP Najib Hamad Al-Kuwari, MP Mohammed Al-Rifai, MP Basima Abdul-Karim Mubarak, and MP Abdullah Hassan Al-Dhaen.
