Dubai is preparing to revolutionize air travel with a $35 billion terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), aiming to become the world’s first fully contactless airport.
During the Learning at Work Week 2025 event, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths confirmed that the ambitious new terminal will feature advanced automation across all processes. From check-in to immigration, passengers will move through the airport seamlessly without physical interaction.
Griffiths declared, “Let us eliminate all these 50 to 100-year-old processes that we’ve been practising for far too long.” He emphasized the need to replace outdated systems with smart, frictionless solutions that enhance efficiency and comfort.
The project is a core element of Dubai’s broader vision to lead the future of global aviation through innovation. Once completed, the new terminal will boost capacity and redefine the airport experience for millions of travelers.
