Dubai Police Assists Emirati In Russia Through Smart App

A Dubai Police smart emergency system helped an Emirati delegation member receive urgent assistance while he was thousands of kilometres away from the UAE.

Abdullah Bourguiba was in Kazan, Russia, during a training trip with Al Wasl Sports Club when a team member suffered severe abdominal pain. He immediately took the player to a nearby hospital, where doctors diagnosed appendicitis and recommended emergency surgery.

However, the hospital required proof of international health insurance or full payment before starting the operation. As the delegation did not have coverage for the treatment, Bourguiba faced a difficult situation in the early hours of the morning.

He then used Dubai Police’s “Your Security at the Touch of a Button” app, a service that connects users directly with the police’s Command and Control Centre.

Despite being 3,600 kilometres away from Dubai, the emergency team was able to identify his location in Kazan and quickly respond to his request.

Shortly afterward, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted Bourguiba and coordinated with the hospital to ensure the player received immediate treatment. The surgery was completed successfully, and UAE embassy representatives later visited the delegation to provide further support.

The smart emergency app was developed to connect UAE residents with Dubai Police services from different locations. It uses advanced technology to provide rapid assistance during emergencies, even when users are outside the country.

The system has been tested across different environments in the UAE and is part of Dubai’s wider efforts to enhance digital public safety services.
