Drug Smuggling Suspect Arrested In Oman’s Dhofar

Omani authorities have arrested a driver accused of attempting to smuggle narcotics and psychotropic substances through Dhofar Governorate, following a joint security operation carried out by law enforcement agencies.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said the operation was led by the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Department of the Dhofar Governorate Police Command in coordination with the Salalah Special Tasks Police Command.

According to the ROP, officers intercepted the suspect while he was transporting an illegal shipment through the governorate. The individual was taken into custody and the prohibited substances were seized.

Police did not disclose the type or quantity of the narcotics involved, but confirmed that legal proceedings against the suspect are underway.

The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by Omani authorities to combat drug trafficking and prevent the movement of illegal substances across the country.

Officials said investigations are continuing as authorities complete the necessary legal measures in the case.
