Doha Port Welcomes Maiden Cruise Calls, Driving Qatar’s Growing Cruise Tourism

Qatar’s cruise sector is rapidly expanding as Doha Port welcomed two maiden calls this week. This milestone highlights Qatar’s cruise tourism growth and its role as a top regional destination for international travelers during the 2025-2026 season.

Seven Seas Navigator, operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises and registered under the Bahamas flag, arrived at Doha Port on December 14. The ship carried 373 passengers and 365 crew members. Port officials hosted a warm welcoming ceremony and exchanged commemorative plaques. The vessel departed the next day.

Celestyal Discovery followed with its first visit, bringing 1,322 passengers and 476 crew members. Doha Port welcomed the vessel with a similar ceremony, showcasing Qatar’s culture and heritage. Guests also enjoyed traditional Ardah performances, calligraphy displays, Al Tawash crafts, and pearl exhibitions. They also received Arabic coffee and dates, highlighting Qatar’s hospitality traditions.

These maiden calls reinforce Doha Port’s position as a key gateway for international tourism. By attracting first-time cruise visits, Qatar strengthens its reputation as a preferred stop for cruise lines in the region.

Officials highlighted that these inaugural visits reflect growing confidence in Qatar’s tourism infrastructure. They also demonstrate Qatar’s strategy to diversify tourism offerings while promoting cultural experiences. The port’s ability to host large cruise ships efficiently shows its readiness for further growth in the sector.

The 2025-2026 cruise season promises more arrivals, with additional vessels already scheduled. Doha Port aims to provide visitors with seamless experiences combining modern amenities and authentic cultural displays. These efforts ensure that passengers enjoy both comfort and a strong sense of Qatar’s heritage.

Qatar’s cruise tourism growth is expected to continue steadily. Investments in port facilities, welcoming events, and cultural showcases are attracting more international travelers. As the sector develops, Doha Port is becoming a central hub for cruise tourism, encouraging repeat visits and stronger engagement with Qatar’s culture.

By strengthening cruise tourism, Qatar not only boosts visitor numbers but also promotes sustainable tourism development. These maiden calls demonstrate the country’s active efforts to position itself as a global tourism destination.
