Digital Transformation Drives Muscat Innovation at COMEX 2025

Muscat Municipality showcased its digital transformation at the 34th COMEX Global Technology Expo 2025. The event ran from 8 to 11 September at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Consequently, attendees experienced the municipality’s achievements in digital services for citizens and residents. These efforts, moreover, highlight current and future projects aimed at improving the quality of life in Muscat.

Furthermore, the participation supports the municipality’s vision of building a smart and sustainable city. In addition, organizers conducted specialised workshops demonstrating key initiatives. Among these, the Unified Municipal System stood out as a major step in standardizing procedures. It also serves, therefore, as a roadmap for developing smart cities in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

In addition, the workshops introduced Muscat Governorate’s digital services designed to simplify access for residents. Officials explained how these services integrate efficiency, transparency, and ease of use. As a result, this digital transformation ensures citizens can complete administrative tasks faster while reducing manual processes.

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, explained the importance of participation. He said the annual presence at COMEX allows the municipality to highlight technological achievements, exchange expertise, and engage with the community. Moreover, he emphasized that innovation and modern technologies remain central to providing integrated, high-quality services.

Furthermore, the municipality launched a new website during the event. The site features a modern, user-friendly design offering integrated services for individuals, businesses, and government entities. Additionally, it includes accessibility features to support people with special needs.

Muscat Municipality earned the Hadatha Initiative Excellence Award in Cybersecurity 2025 in the government institutions category. The recognition reflects strong cybersecurity performance and high ranking in the National Cybersecurity Index. Officials noted, moreover, that local talent and innovative approaches drove the success.

COMEX 2025 provides one of the largest platforms for showcasing modern technology. It brings together, therefore, local and international organisations in areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies. Additionally, the exhibition offers professional workshops and demonstrations, supporting innovation and collaboration across sectors.

Overall, Muscat’s digital transformation highlights the municipality’s commitment to innovation. Through smart city initiatives, cybersecurity excellence, and interactive services, Muscat continues, therefore, to advance toward a knowledge-based digital economy.
