The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is taking swift action to address concerns about potential fraud in a shopping festival raffle. Spokesperson Abdullah Al-Harz reassured the public of the ministry’s commitment to maintaining consumer trust and transparency. He emphasized that any suspicions of wrongdoing would not be tolerated.
Al-Harz confirmed that several internal measures have been put in place to investigate the matter and ensure accountability. Minister Khalifa Al-Ajeel has appointed a fact-finding committee, led by Adnan Abel, head of the Kuwait Lawyers Association, to probe the violations linked to the recent raffle draws.
In addition, Undersecretary Ziad Al-Najem, acting on the minister’s directives, has implemented a rotation of managers within the Supervision and Consumer Protection Affairs Sector.
The Ministry has also formed a committee to oversee current and future raffle draws, aiming to enhance the system and prevent future concerns. Furthermore, Al-Harz revealed that new information related to the suspicions had been referred to the Public Prosecutor, following a previous submission by the Ministry.
Al-Harz reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with security and investigative authorities to ensure the issue is thoroughly addressed and to restore public confidence in the Ministry’s operations.
