Child Dies After E-Scooter Collision on King Faisal Street

Umm Al Quwain witnessed a tragic road accident involving a child late Thursday night. A 10-year-old boy lost his life after a collision while riding an electric scooter on King Faisal Street, according to police.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. Emergency services received a call reporting a serious traffic accident involving a child. As a result, traffic patrol units and National Ambulance teams rushed to the scene immediately.

Upon arrival, responders found the boy in critical condition. Therefore, medical teams transferred him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Despite all efforts, doctors later confirmed his death due to severe injuries.

Police officials stated that a car struck the child while he was riding the scooter on the road. Investigators added that the boy was traveling against the direction of traffic at the time of the incident. Consequently, the situation left little time for the driver to react.

Authorities took the driver, an Asian national, into custody for questioning. However, initial findings suggest the vehicle was moving slowly. The driver was reportedly attempting to park when the collision occurred.

Meanwhile, a family member shared further details about the incident. The child belonged to a family of six siblings. According to the relative, the boy took his older brother’s electric scooter without the family’s knowledge. At that time, the family was having dinner.

The family also explained that the child did not die directly from the vehicle’s impact. Instead, the boy was thrown onto the pavement after the collision. As a result, he suffered severe head injuries and heavy bleeding, which proved fatal.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Additionally, authorities renewed warnings about allowing children to ride electric scooters on public roads. Officials stressed that such vehicles pose serious risks, especially at night and in traffic areas.
