Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain held talks in Manama with Dr Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, focusing on economic policy, development priorities and regional financial conditions.
The meeting, attended by Bahrain’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, reviewed the country’s ongoing economic strategy, including efforts to diversify the economy and strengthen its role as a regional financial hub.
Officials discussed progress in Bahrain’s development programmes aimed at supporting sustainable growth, improving competitiveness and expanding opportunities across key sectors.
During the discussions, the Crown Prince reaffirmed Bahrain’s approach to economic reform and openness to international cooperation, highlighting continued investment in long-term development planning and fiscal stability.
The talks also covered broader regional and global economic trends, including challenges affecting growth and investment across the Middle East.
The Bahrain IMF meeting comes as Gulf states continue to engage with international financial institutions to support economic diversification and resilience amid shifting global market conditions.
Both sides reviewed areas of mutual interest and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation between Bahrain and the IMF in support of economic development goals.
