The Shura Council has discussed a proposal to launch a summer training programme for students. The initiative aims to enhance youth skills and help them benefit from their free time during school breaks.
The council’s session, led by Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, reviewed a detailed report from the Social Affairs, Labor, and Housing Committee. Focused on secondary school students, the summer programme aims at developing essential skills.
Al Ghanim emphasized that Qatar remains deeply committed to protecting and nurturing its youth. He referred to Article 22 of Qatar’s Constitution, which guarantees children protection from harm and support for their development through initiatives like a summer training programme.
Moreover, he explained that student well-being must include a healthy balance. Summer should not only be for rest and entertainment but also for meaningful development. Therefore, this training programme serves as a key investment in the country’s future.
He highlighted the importance of creating opportunities that help students gain real-life skills. These programs, he said, contribute to building character and preparing youth for future responsibilities within a structured summer training framework.
In addition, Al Ghanim praised many existing efforts across Qatar. Several government and private institutions already run youth-focused initiatives, including activities that align with the proposed training initiatives.
He stressed the need to unify and expand these efforts under a national strategy. If these plans are adopted widely, the programme could guide the energy of young people in a productive direction through well-organized summer student programs.
The Council’s discussion marks an important step in recognizing the value of structured summer engagement. It also reflects Qatar’s long-standing dedication to its youth through seasonal training plans.
Future discussions may determine how to implement the proposal on a larger scale. For now, the promising concept of summer training points to positive momentum for youth development in Qatar.
