Bahrain’s Ministry of Social Development prioritizes transparency and efficiency in managing resources

Bahrain’s Ministry of Social Development prioritizes transparency and efficiency in managing resources. The Ministry remains fully committed to implementing recommendations from the State Audit Bureau’s 2023-2024 report. These actions aim to ensure the highest levels of governance in all Ministry activities and procedures.

In a recent House of Representatives session, the Minister highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing actions to address the Audit Bureau’s recommendations. The Ministry has already implemented many of these suggestions and is working on the remaining ones. For instance, the Ministry has acted on 45 recommendations related to services for people with disabilities, covering 88% of the relevant suggestions. It has also completed 32 recommendations related to elderly services, which represent 80% of the total. Additionally, the Ministry has successfully addressed 15 recommendations on security and safety procedures in its facilities, completing 83% of those recommendations.

Regarding operational costs, the Ministry’s Operational Care Department thoroughly reviewed all service-related documents. This review ensures the services remain accurate and reliable. Furthermore, the Ministry restructured its childcare centers both financially and administratively. These changes aim to improve governance and enforce financial discipline. The Ministry has set clear eligibility criteria to boost operational efficiency.

The Ministry also focuses on enhancing its internal work environment. It has made the employment of Bahrainis a priority. The Ministry has developed a plan and timeline to help Bahrainis qualify for positions within its structure. It also works continually to improve asset and vehicle management, alongside strengthening administrative and financial oversight of its facilities.

The Ministry remains committed to implementing the recommendations from the State Audit Bureau’s report. These ongoing efforts enhance transparency and efficiency, protect public funds, and foster sustainable development. By improving governance, the Ministry aims to create lasting progress across all its areas of work.
