Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, celebrated the graduation of 110 students from the Class of 2025. The ceremony was held at Education City and marked an important milestone—the university’s 20th anniversary in Qatar.
Dean Michael Trick opened the event with a message of pride. He emphasized the significance of this moment for both the students and the campus. “Class of 2025, your senior year was exceptional. It coincided with the 20th anniversary of CMU-Q. We celebrated your impact and what lies ahead,” he said. He added that the graduates are now part of a growing global network of alumni.
James H. Garrett Jr., Provost of Carnegie Mellon University, also addressed the audience. Speaking on behalf of President Farnam Jahanian, he congratulated the graduates. “You’ve gained knowledge, built lasting connections, and joined a global community. Carry forward Carnegie Mellon’s spirit of inquiry and excellence,” he urged.
Two students shared reflections on behalf of the Class of 2025. Aina AlObaidan recited “Students of Knowledge and Virtue” by Gibran Khalil Gibran. Meanwhile, Fatima Yousaf reflected on the class’s journey, highlighting moments of growth and resilience.
The ceremony also honored students and faculty for outstanding achievements. Five students received Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards for earning the highest academic scores in their respective programs.
As the evening concluded, CMU-Q celebrated not just its graduates but also its continued legacy in Qatar. With this ceremony, the university reaffirmed its role in shaping future leaders across fields like business, computer science, and information systems.
