In a landmark recognition for Arab and Gulf medical professionals, Dr Waddah Al-Refaie, a Kuwaiti surgeon and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Creighton University in the United States, has been selected for the 2025 Scientific Exchange Program. This is a collaboration between the American Surgical Association (ASA) and the European Society of Surgery (ESS).
The Dr Waddah Al-Refaie scientific exchange appointment marks the first time a Kuwaiti, Gulf national, or Arab surgeon has received this esteemed honor.
Dr Al-Refaie expressed deep pride and gratitude for the recognition. He attributed the achievement to Kuwait’s ongoing support for its medical professionals.
“This opportunity is a reflection of Kuwait’s growing presence in the international medical community,” Dr Al-Refaie said.
