Qatar to Host 26th International Islamic Fiqh Conference Under Prime Minister’s Patronage

Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the 26th International Islamic Fiqh Conference will commence on Sunday in Doha.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) announced that the event will run until May 8. The conference is organized by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, which operates under the umbrella of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

This year’s 26th International Islamic Fiqh Conference brings together leading scholars, jurists, and experts from around the world. Participants will engage in high-level discussions on pressing issues facing Muslim communities today.

According to the Ministry, the event reflects the Academy’s ongoing mission to promote collective ijtihad—collaborative Islamic legal reasoning. It aims to explore contemporary challenges in fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and deliver sound, Sharia-based recommendations.

The agenda covers a wide range of modern topics. These include economic challenges, medical advancements, ethical concerns, and the formulation of legal rulings rooted in Islamic principles.

Officials noted that the 26th International Islamic Fiqh Conference also provides a platform for dialogue among diverse schools of thought. The goal is to reach consensus on matters affecting daily life, governance, finance, and public health.

The International Islamic Fiqh Academy is widely respected as a leading authority in Islamic jurisprudence. Its annual conferences offer timely responses to complex issues through scholarly deliberation and consensus.

This year’s gathering in Doha underscores Qatar’s commitment to fostering intellectual leadership and supporting the Muslim world’s religious and legal scholarship.

The Ministry expressed confidence that the conference’s findings will contribute significantly to current debates and policymaking efforts across Muslim-majority nations.
