The Cabinet has approved a draft Amiri decision to establish the Qatar Anti-Doping Agency. This marks a significant step in the country’s commitment to combating doping in sports. The decision also includes amendments to the previous 2011 decree that had established an anti-doping laboratory.
The move aims to strengthen national efforts in ensuring integrity and fairness in athletic competition. The session was chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft decision to form a digital safety committee for children and adolescents under the Ministry of Social Development and Family. This decision, originally proposed by the Shura Council, aims to address growing concerns about online safety. Specifically, the committee will assess the current state of digital safety across the country. Moreover, it will provide tailored recommendations to relevant government bodies, thereby contributing to the development of a safer and more supportive online environment for the younger population.
The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of recent high-level visits by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. These include his meetings with the Presidents of Egypt, Indonesia, and Syria. These visits were praised for enhancing bilateral cooperation and contributing to regional stability.
Further approvals included a draft Cabinet decision to reorganize the committee overseeing food security policy implementation. This is aligned with the National Food Security Strategy 2024–2030.
Other decisions involved approving several international agreements, including:
- The establishment of the Arab Energy Organization and its related protocols.
- A memorandum of understanding with Uzbekistan on diplomatic training.
- Legal and judicial cooperation agreements with Uzbekistan.
- A strategic partnership with South Korea’s Intellectual Property Office.
- A contribution agreement with the United Nations for supporting children in armed conflict.
The session concluded with reviews of multiple reports. These included updates on farm electricity subsidies, chemical materials oversight, and outcomes of Qatari participation in key forums and conferences in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
