Saudi Arabia Participates in UNESCO Executive Board’s 221st Session

Saudi Arabia is actively participating in the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, which opened at the organization’s headquarters in Paris. Represented by its permanent delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Saudi Arabia is engaging in discussions that will continue until April 17.

The Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, alongside several other relevant national entities, is also involved in the session. Dr. Abdulelah Al-Tokhais, the Saudi Arabian Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, is leading the Kingdom’s delegation and delivered a speech in front of the Executive Board member states, the chairperson of the board, the president of the General Conference, and the director general of UNESCO.

In his address, Dr. Al-Tokhais emphasized the long-standing and productive relationship between Saudi Arabia and UNESCO. He noted that the Kingdom was one of the first countries to sign the UN Charter in 1945, highlighting its early and ongoing commitment to the values and goals of the international organization.

Dr. Al-Tokhais also highlighted the continuous cooperation between Saudi Arabia and UNESCO, particularly in the field of education. This event, held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, further solidified the Kingdom’s role in advancing global education initiatives.
