43 Women Lawyers to Continue Practicing After Nationality Revocation

The Lawyers Association announced on Monday that 43 female lawyers whose nationalities were previously revoked would be allowed to continue practicing law. This decision was made following collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, headed by Minister Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, to ensure the uninterrupted operation of legal and professional work within established legal frameworks.

According to the Association’s Admissions Committee, these female lawyers will be treated as Kuwaitis under Article (8) of the law, allowing them to retain their professional status and continue their legal practices.

Adnan Abel, President of the Lawyers Association, confirmed that the decision was based on a comprehensive legal review and was made in coordination with relevant authorities. The decision also aligns with Cabinet Resolution No. 67/2025, which mandates the adjustment of the status of women whose nationalities were revoked to ensure they receive equal rights and benefits.

Secretary of the association, Khaled Al-Suwaifan, further explained that the decision applies to 43 female lawyers. He emphasized that many of these lawyers manage law firms and hold significant responsibilities toward their clients. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that judicial work continues smoothly without disruption, maintaining professional stability for all involved.
