Saudi citizens can now apply for the US Global Entry programme, marking another step in the growing partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United States. The Saudi Embassy welcomed the development on Tuesday, describing it as a milestone in bilateral relations.
The programme helps pre-approved, low-risk travellers complete US entry procedures more quickly. In addition, eligible members can access TSA PreCheck benefits at participating American airports, making security screening more convenient.
The embassy said the agreement reflects strong mutual trust and cooperation between both countries. It highlighted security, border management and easier travel as important areas of collaboration. Furthermore, the initiative aims to strengthen personal connections and make travel between the two countries more accessible.
The new arrangement could support a wider range of exchanges between Saudi Arabia and the United States. For example, easier travel may help students, businesspeople and professionals pursue opportunities abroad. It could also encourage cultural visits and strengthen relationships between communities in both countries.
Diane J. Sabatino, executive assistant commissioner of the US Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations, welcomed the expansion. She said smoother travel for trusted visitors could strengthen cooperation while maintaining security standards. Her remarks highlighted the programme’s dual focus on efficient travel and border protection.
However, applicants must still complete the programme’s approval process before receiving membership benefits. Global Entry serves travellers who meet eligibility requirements and pass the relevant screening procedures. Therefore, Saudi citizens should confirm the application requirements before making travel plans based on potential membership.
Applicants can use the Trusted Traveler mobile application to access several programme services. Through the app, they can submit applications for trusted traveller programmes and check their membership status. They can also schedule enrolment interviews and manage or renew existing memberships.
Additionally, travellers who already hold Global Entry membership can use the app to confirm their arrival in the United States. This feature can help simplify airport procedures after an international flight. Nevertheless, travellers should follow the instructions provided by US border officials when entering the country.
The Saudi Embassy said the development would help deepen ties between Saudi and American citizens. It also expressed the Kingdom’s intention to continue working with Washington on shared priorities.
