Bahrain Trees Initiative Targets 100,000 by 2030

Seef Properties has launched the Seeds of Bahrain initiative, aiming to encourage planting 100,000 trees across Bahrain by 2030. The company partnered with Nasaem Bahrain to promote environmental awareness and involve communities in greener practices. The four-year programme began during Bahrain’s Tree Week activities.

The initiative supports national efforts to expand green spaces and advance environmental sustainability. It also aligns with Bahrain’s ambitions to develop agriculture and encourage responsible environmental practices. Through community participation, organisers hope to make tree planting part of everyday life.

As part of the programme, organisers will distribute seeds through interactive activities designed for different age groups. Individuals and families can learn how to plant and care for greenery themselves. In turn, these activities aim to encourage sustainable habits at home and within communities.

The initiative held its first activities at Al Liwan, welcoming families and other community members. Visitors took part in planting sessions and enjoyed activities designed for children. These included entertainment, face painting and gifts, while organisers also distributed seeds.

Participants could also learn about the importance of planting and maintaining trees. By combining practical activities with environmental education, the programme aims to make sustainability more accessible. Furthermore, family-focused events can help introduce younger generations to environmental responsibility.

Seef Properties also plans to introduce a dedicated bus carrying the Seeds of Bahrain identity. The bus will travel across different areas of the Kingdom and attend community events. During these visits, organisers will distribute seeds and encourage residents to participate directly.

This mobile campaign could help the initiative reach communities beyond its initial activities at Al Liwan. By bringing seed distribution into different neighbourhoods, organisers aim to involve a wider range of residents. The approach also creates more opportunities for people to participate in local environmental efforts.

Ahmed Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of Seef Properties, said the launch coincided with Tree Week. He described the occasion as an opportunity to raise environmental awareness and encourage tree planting. He also emphasised cooperation among public institutions, private companies and community organisations.

Yusuf added that the company wanted to turn environmental responsibility into practical action. The programme will run community activities over four years while pursuing its 2030 planting target. He also highlighted the importance of engaging families and younger generations in sustainable practices.

The company said collaboration with non-governmental organisations and individuals would help support Bahrain’s environmental objectives. Such partnerships can connect corporate initiatives with residents and community groups. Moreover, they can encourage people to contribute directly to local sustainability projects.

However, reaching the target of 100,000 trees will require sustained participation and careful planning. Organisers will need to encourage ongoing involvement as the programme expands across the Kingdom. Suitable planting locations and consistent care will also matter for long-term success.

Through Seeds of Bahrain, Seef Properties aims to combine community engagement with practical environmental action. The initiative places families, children and local residents at the centre of its activities. Its progress towards the 2030 target will show how effectively the programme turns awareness into lasting greenery.
