Oman Participation Confirmed for Expo 2030 Riyadh

Oman participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh has been formally confirmed following the signing of an official participation contract. The agreement marks a major step in Oman’s preparations for the international exhibition in Saudi Arabia. Expo 2030 Riyadh will run from October 1, 2030, through March 31, 2031. Meanwhile, Omani officials will now advance preparations for the country’s pavilion and wider activities.

Sayyid Saeed Sultan Al Busaidi signed the agreement on behalf of Oman during a ceremony. He serves as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture. He also serves as Commissioner General of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at the Expo. Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, signed the agreement on behalf of the event.

The signing ceremony took place at the Expo 2030 Riyadh site, where preparations continue across the large exhibition area. Following the ceremony, the officials toured several parts of the developing site. They also visited the location allocated specifically for the Omani pavilion. Development work continues across the site as organisers prepare infrastructure for the international event.

Al Busaidi described the agreement as an important milestone in Oman’s preparations for the exhibition. He also highlighted the longstanding relationship and cooperation between Oman and Saudi Arabia. According to the Omani official, the pavilion will provide an opportunity to present the country’s identity. It will showcase Oman’s heritage, culture, national achievements, and aspirations for the future.

The pavilion will therefore serve as an important platform for Oman during the six-month international exhibition. Visitors will have opportunities to learn more about the country’s cultural heritage and contemporary development. Furthermore, Oman plans to use its participation to communicate the ambitions of its people. The country’s presentation will form part of the wider international programme planned for Riyadh.

Al-Marri welcomed Oman’s agreement and described it as another sign of growing international interest. He noted that participating countries have increasingly moved toward developing their pavilions and visitor experiences. As preparations advance, organisers expect the Expo to take shape as a truly global gathering. Oman’s involvement will consequently add another Gulf perspective to the international event.

The agreement follows similar participation contracts involving France and Bahrain. These early agreements demonstrate the pace at which countries are formalising their involvement. Organisers say Expo 2030 Riyadh has established an unusually early schedule for confirming participation. Countries are signing agreements more than four years before the exhibition officially opens.

International participation represents a central part of the Expo’s wider objectives. Under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow,” the event will bring countries and organisations together. Participants will examine shared challenges while exploring opportunities that could shape future development. Moreover, the Expo aims to encourage knowledge exchange and strengthen cooperation between participating nations.

The organisers also intend to create opportunities for new partnerships between governments, institutions, and businesses. Through discussions and exhibitions, participants can present ideas addressing economic, social, technological, and environmental challenges. Consequently, the event seeks to move beyond traditional exhibitions toward practical international cooperation. Knowledge sharing will remain an important element throughout the six-month programme.

Oman participation also reflects the country’s broader engagement with major regional and international events. Its pavilion will provide space for presenting national priorities alongside cultural and economic achievements. At the same time, visitors will gain greater exposure to Oman’s heritage and future ambitions. The participation therefore combines cultural representation with opportunities for international engagement.

Expo 2030 Riyadh expects to welcome 197 official participants from countries and international organisations. Organisers also anticipate approximately 42 million visits during the exhibition period. Those figures highlight the expected scale of the event and its international reach. Therefore, securing participation agreements early remains important for countries preparing substantial pavilion programmes.

As construction and planning continue, Oman will enter the next stage of preparation for its pavilion. The country’s team will develop its exhibition concept, visitor experience, and broader engagement programme. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia continues preparing the wider Expo site for participating nations and visitors. Overall, Oman participation strengthens the growing international presence taking shape ahead of Expo 2030 Riyadh.
