UAE Launches Year Of Award To Honour Community Impact

The UAE has introduced the Year of Award, a new national initiative to recognise individuals and organisations whose work has made a lasting contribution to the country’s annual themes.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directed the launch of the award, which aims to celebrate achievements that have delivered meaningful community impact and inspired collective action across the Emirates.

The first edition of the award aligns with the UAE’s 2026 Year of Family, held under the theme “Growing in Unity”. The national campaign highlights the role of families in building a compassionate, cohesive and resilient society.

The initiative will be overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed, Deputy Chairwoman of the Presidential Court for National Projects.

Entries will be assessed based on three key criteria: impact, sustainability and inspiration.

The awards programme features five categories, including the main Year of Award prize, a collective contribution award, and recognition for outstanding achievements by government entities, the private sector and civil society organisations.

The inaugural edition is being organised in partnership with the Ministry of Family. Families, community groups and organisations are invited to submit stories and register initiatives through the official website before the September 10, 2026 deadline.
