Oman took part in the 27th meeting of deputy heads of GCC audit and accounting institutions on Thursday, joining regional officials in discussions on financial oversight, research and emerging technologies.
The virtual meeting was attended by representatives from GCC member states, with Oman represented by the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority. The Omani delegation was led by Zaher Sulaiman Al Salmy, Deputy Chairman for the Audit of Government Units.
Participants reviewed preparations for the seventh GCC Competition for Research and Studies in Auditing and Accounting and discussed ways to strengthen knowledge sharing across the region.
The meeting also examined a proposal to develop an artificial intelligence-powered platform to compile and organize the work and outcomes of the GCC Audit and Accounting Committee.
Officials reviewed a study assessing recommendations from the winning research papers of the sixth GCC competition, along with a report from the GCC Secretariat General on training programmes conducted during 2025 and 2026.
The agenda for the 23rd meeting of heads of GCC audit and accounting institutions was also discussed, while participants concluded the session by reviewing plans for the upcoming GCC Financial and Administrative Audit Week.
