Malaysia to Host Rescheduled Bahrain F1 Grand Prix

Formula One has confirmed that Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit will host the rescheduled Bahrain Grand Prix on October 4 after the original race was postponed earlier this year.

The event will officially be known as the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, following an agreement between the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia, Formula One and the FIA.

Formula One Chief Executive Stefano Domenicali said the return to Sepang would allow fans to enjoy a full championship calendar while bringing the sport back to one of its most popular venues.

The Bahrain Grand Prix was originally scheduled for April but was postponed because of regional security concerns linked to the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was also cancelled during the same period.

The race will take place between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 26 and the Singapore Grand Prix on October 11, restoring the 2026 Formula One season to 23 races.

Sepang last hosted a Formula One race in 2017 before leaving the championship calendar. The circuit has since continued to stage major international motorsport events, including MotoGP.

Formula One said the rescheduled event remains subject to final agreements and approval by the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
