Kuwaiti Companies Commit $16 Million to Emergency Response Fund

Leading Kuwaiti companies have pledged a combined $16 million to the newly established Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, supporting a national initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s preparedness for emergencies and protecting critical infrastructure.

The latest contributions include $10 million from Zain Group and $6 million from BNK Holding and several of its affiliated companies, according to statements released on Tuesday.

BNK Holding’s contribution was made alongside Gulf Cable and Electrical Industries Company, Boursa Kuwait, Kuwaiti Clearing Company and National Investments Company. Gulf Cable pledged $2 million, while the Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi Group, Boursa Kuwait, Kuwait Clearing Company and National Investments Company each contributed $1 million.

The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was launched by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to emergencies, support vital infrastructure and ensure the continuity of essential services during exceptional circumstances.

Zain Group said its contribution reflects its commitment to supporting national priorities and enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors. The company described the initiative as an important step toward improving Kuwait’s readiness to respond to evolving regional and domestic challenges.

BNK Holding Chairman Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi said the private sector has a key role in supporting national efforts, adding that cooperation between businesses and government institutions is essential to enhancing the country’s resilience.

KFAED has encouraged both public institutions and private companies to support the fund, describing it as a long-term national mechanism for mobilising domestic resources and directing them toward priority projects that strengthen Kuwait’s emergency response capabilities.
