Bahrain Says Air Defences Intercept Iranian Attacks

Bahrain’s Defence Force said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed several aerial attacks that it attributed to Iran on Thursday, adding that military units remain on high alert across the kingdom.

In a statement, the General Command accused Iran of continuing what it described as hostile attacks targeting civilians in Bahrain. It said air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple incoming threats.

The military said all branches and units of the Bahrain Defence Force are at the highest level of operational readiness to safeguard the country.

Authorities also urged residents to avoid approaching any suspicious objects or debris that may have resulted from the interceptions and to report them immediately to the relevant authorities.

The Defence Force said the Royal Field Engineering Unit is fully prepared to safely handle and dispose of any remaining objects to protect public safety.

The General Command further condemned the reported use of missiles and drones against civilians and private property, describing such attacks as a violation of international humanitarian law.

It also praised the readiness and vigilance of Bahrain’s armed forces, saying personnel remain committed to carrying out their duty to defend the kingdom.
