Qatar has raised concerns over an alleged incident involving a vessel linked to the country in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting a response from Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding the incident, which reportedly took place on July 7, as tensions continue to surround maritime security in the strategically important waterway.
Iran rejected the accusations, describing the claims as unacceptable and saying they do not align with principles of good neighborly relations. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran remains committed to a previous agreement aimed at ending conflict and maintaining safe maritime operations.
Baghaei said Iran expects regional countries, including Qatar, to respect the terms of the agreement and avoid actions that could affect navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian official also warned that some vessels have been using uncoordinated routes and interfering with tracking systems, which he said could increase risks to shipping safety and the marine environment.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes, with regional countries closely monitoring developments that could affect maritime traffic and stability.
