Oman’s General Directorate of Traffic has detained two motorists after they were caught driving at speeds exceeding 200 km/h on Sultan Said bin Taimur Street while travelling towards Dhofar Governorate.
The violations were detected using mobile speed monitoring devices operated by traffic police, authorities said.
The two drivers were stopped, and legal procedures are being completed in line with the country’s traffic laws and regulations.
The General Directorate of Traffic renewed its appeal for motorists to comply with speed limits and road safety regulations, warning that excessive speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious traffic accidents.
Officials urged all road users to drive responsibly and follow traffic rules to help improve safety on Oman’s roads.
