Kuwait And China Expand Cooperation On Sustainability

Kuwait and China have explored ways to strengthen cooperation in sustainability, environmental protection and development, as both countries seek to address shared environmental and economic challenges.

Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs Reem Al-Fulaij met Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin on Monday to discuss opportunities for expanding bilateral collaboration in a range of sectors linked to sustainable development.

According to Al-Fulaij, the talks focused on environmental initiatives, energy cooperation as well as efforts to advance sustainable development goals. The discussions also covered technologies that was related to desalination wastewater treatment, areas seen as increasingly important for water security across the region.

Food security featured prominently during the meeting, with both sides examining ways to respond to climate-related pressures and regional challenges affecting agricultural production. The officials also reviewed measures aimed at combating desertification and improving environmental resilience.

Al-Fulaij said modern agricultural technologies could play a greater role in supporting sustainable development objectives and highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise between the two countries.

She also added that coordination between Kuwait’s Environment Public Authority, relevant government agencies as well as Chinese counterparts could help identify new areas of cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties while advancing shared development priorities.
